Dodge Dakota Convertible, just because they can!

Pictured here is a 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible. Yes, it is a convertible pickup truck, which may sound a little weird......and you are right! Honestly I'm not sure where Chrysler got the idea to put this into production for 3 years (87-89), but it's obscurity is what makes it unique! This was the first convertible truck sold to the US since the Ford Model A trucks of the 1930s! This is a pretty good example of how a cars obscurity can make it a collectible. Only about 3000 of these trucks were made, and there are much less that are still in existance today.
There was another odd truck made by dodge in the late 1980s, it's called the Rampage(pictured above). Like the Dakota Convertible, it was also only around for 3 years (82-84). However it remains overshadowed by the king of the Coupe Utilities, the Chevy El Camino and very few people even knew it existed. 2 obscure trucks that remain hidden from the world of collectible cars today.
